DG002 Cooperfrau Melissengeist — Hans-Joachim Bohlmann

Cooperfrau Melissengeist is no-input harsh noise from Hamburg. In this concept album, CM tells the story of Hans-Joachim Bohlmann, who became known in the 1980s as the “Dürer assassin”. After his wife fell from a window while cleaning on 11 March 1977 and succumbed to her injuries on 23 March 1977, Bohlmann began deliberately damaging paintings and other works of art in museums, art galleries, parks, churches and cemeteries. Between 1977 and 1988, Bohlmann damaged a total of over 50 works of art. The damage he caused is estimated at around 130 million euros.

“Für mich war das teuerste meine Frau, für die anderen war Rembrandt am teuersten.”
“For me, the most expensive thing was my wife, for the others it was Rembrandt.”
—Hans-Joachim Bohlmann
